Legal
Acceptable use policy
What you can and cannot run on our servers. Short version: do not break the law, do not send spam, do not attack anyone, and keep your software patched.
This policy applies to every service Laymance Technologies provides — web hosting, email hosting, servers, and anything running on our infrastructure. It exists for two reasons: shared infrastructure means one account's behavior affects everyone else's, and we need clear grounds to act when something genuinely goes wrong.
You are responsible for everything on your account. That includes content your staff, contractors, or end users put there. If you are a white-label partner or reseller, you are responsible for your customers' compliance and for passing these rules on to them.
Content you may not host
Illegal material
Anything unlawful under United States federal law or the law of the State of Tennessee. This includes child sexual abuse material, which we report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as required by law and remove immediately, without prior notice to you.
Infringing material
Content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, patent, or trade secret. This includes pirated software, media, fonts, and stock imagery you do not hold a license for.
Malware and attack tooling
Viruses, ransomware, keyloggers, exploit kits, credential stuffing tools, or botnet command-and-control infrastructure — whether active or merely stored.
Phishing and fraud
Pages impersonating another business, bank, or government body; fake login forms; fraudulent stores; and advance-fee or investment scams.
Content that puts people at risk
Material that threatens or harasses a specific person, publishes private information without consent, or promotes violence against people or property.
Regulated goods without authorisation
Controlled substances, prescription pharmaceuticals, firearms, or gambling operations, unless you hold and can produce every license your jurisdiction requires.
Things you may not do
- Attempting to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours — on our network or anyone else’s.
- Port scanning, vulnerability scanning, or penetration testing against systems you do not own, or against ours without written permission.
- Denial-of-service attacks, traffic amplification, or participating in one from our network.
- Forging headers, spoofing addresses, or otherwise disguising the origin of traffic.
- Running open mail relays, open proxies, Tor exit nodes, or public VPN endpoints.
- Cryptocurrency mining, distributed computing, or any workload whose purpose is to consume compute.
- Circumventing resource limits, billing, or authentication — including sharing one account across separate businesses.
- Reselling hosting without a written agreement with us, unless you are a white-label partner.
Email and anti-spam
Email reputation is the most fragile thing we operate, and it is shared. A single bad send can affect delivery for every other client on the platform, so these rules are the ones we enforce most strictly.
Permission, always
You may only send bulk or commercial email to people who asked to hear from you. Purchased, rented, scraped, or appended lists are not permitted, and are the single fastest way to get an account suspended.
Working unsubscribe
Every commercial message needs a functioning opt-out, honored promptly, and an accurate physical postal address — the CAN-SPAM baseline.
Honest headers
Accurate From, Reply-To, and subject lines. No misleading sender names and no subject lines that misrepresent the content.
List hygiene
Process bounces and complaints, and stop mailing addresses that hard-bounce or complain. Sending reputation is shared infrastructure — one sender’s bad list affects delivery for every client on the platform.
Volume
Very large sends should go through a dedicated bulk provider, not general business email hosting. Talk to us first and we will tell you honestly which you need.
Resource use
- Shared plans are sized for normal website and email use. Sustained heavy CPU, memory, disk, or database load may need moving to a dedicated arrangement — we will tell you before it becomes a problem, not after.
- Our backups exist to restore your site. They are not general-purpose file storage or an archival service.
- Hosting is not a file-distribution or media-streaming platform. Storing large archives for download elsewhere is not covered.
- Do not use our servers as a CDN or image host for sites hosted somewhere else.
Your security responsibilities
We patch the operating system, web server, and database. The application layer is yours unless you have a maintenance agreement covering it — see maintenance if you would rather we handled it.
- Keep applications, plugins, themes, and frameworks patched. Unmaintained software is how most sites get compromised, and an abandoned plugin is a liability on shared infrastructure.
- Use strong, unique credentials, and enable multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Remove code and accounts you no longer use. Old staging copies and inactive admin logins are a common entry point.
- Tell us immediately if you suspect a compromise. We would much rather help early than clean up later.
Copyright and DMCA notices
We respond to valid notices of claimed copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you believe material we host infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] including:
- identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- the URL of the material you are asking us to remove;
- your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf; and
- your physical or electronic signature.
We will act on valid notices expeditiously and will pass the notice to the customer concerned, who may submit a counter-notification.
Repeat infringers. We terminate the accounts of customers who are the subject of repeated valid infringement notices. We keep a record of notices received in order to apply this consistently.
Reporting abuse
If you believe something on our network violates this policy, tell us at [email protected]. Include the URL or IP address, what you observed, and timestamps with a time zone if you have them. If it is urgent — an active attack or an ongoing phishing campaign — call (865) 888-9809 rather than waiting on email.
We read abuse reports. We are a small shop, which means a real person looks at yours rather than an automated triage queue closing it.
How we enforce this
Our strong preference is to call you and get it fixed. In almost every case a violation is a misconfiguration, a compromised site, or a contractor who did something nobody asked for — not bad intent. Those get a phone call, not a suspension.
Depending on what we find, we may:
- contact you and give you a reasonable period to correct it;
- remove or disable specific content or functionality while leaving the rest of your service running;
- suspend the account; or
- terminate service.
We may act without prior notice where there is an active attack, an ongoing phishing or malware campaign, a live compromise, a serious risk to other customers, or a legal obligation to act immediately. Where we suspend without notice, we will tell you what happened and why as soon as we reasonably can.
Termination for a violation of this policy does not entitle you to a refund of fees already paid. Nothing here limits any other right or remedy available to us under your service agreement.
We may preserve and disclose account information and content where we are required to by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Laymance Technologies, our customers, or the public.
Relationship to your service agreement
This policy supplements your service agreement, proposal, or statement of work. Where the two genuinely conflict on a commercial matter — billing, notice periods, cancellation — your signed agreement governs. On acceptable use, this policy governs.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy as the services change and as new categories of abuse appear. The date below changes with it. If a change materially affects what you are permitted to do, we will tell you rather than quietly amend the page.
