Star City Games

An eight-year engagement, from 2010 to 2018, with one of the largest trading card retailers in the United States — leading development on the systems the business ran on.

What we did

  • Led a seven-person development team
  • Custom ERP development — developed the internal systems their staff ran the business on; the system handled warehouse management, inventory tracking, overstock, article management, and online sales
  • Streamlined the order picking and verification process by developing a barcode-driven warehouse module and shipping system
  • A full custom shopping cart, built rather than bought
  • A custom API serving their mobile app

Result

The public site and store averaged 3–5 million visitors and 130–150 million hits per month, including the paid article subscriptions running alongside the storefront.

Star City Games homepage: a blue header with store, events, articles and buylist navigation, a banner promoting an Open Series event in Kansas City, and three columns below — paid Premium articles, free Select articles, and an organized-play event calendar.
Three businesses on one platform: the store, the paid Premium and free Select article tiers, and the organized-play calendar. Year six of eight.
